Ohio Governor DeWine signs Senate Bill 52 into law designating a portion of Interstate 70 as the Tuscarawas Memorial Highway in honor of six students from Tuscarawas Valley High School who lost their lives in a tragic crash on November 14, 2023.
State Representatives Kevin Miller and Jodi Salvo announced in a release July 16 on Facebook that Governor DeWine signed Senate Bill 52 into law.
The designation honors John Mosley, Katelyn Owens, Jeffery Worrell, Dave Kennat, Kristy Gaynor, and Shannon Wigfield, those from Tuscarawas Valley High School who lost their lives in a tragic crash on November 14, 2023. This legislation ensures their memory, and the strength and unity of the Tuscarawas Valley community, will be permanently recognized. The Ohio Department of Transportation will install markers identifying the memorial highway.
Designating a portion of Interstate 70 in Licking County as the Tuscarawas Memorial Highway will ensure the lives lost on that tragic day will never be forgotten. Naming this stretch of highway in memory of Wyatt Mosley, J.D. Worrell, Katelyn Owens, Shannon Wigfield, Kristy Gaynor, and Dave Kennat is not just a sign on the road. It is a pledge that we will never forget them," said Representative Salvo.
