BREAKING: Government vows to pay 80% of wages to keep people in jobs during coronavirus
Businesses in the hospitality industry are particularly at risk as people are urged to stay at home has unveiled an ‘unprecedented’ economic intervention to prevent people being laid off during the coronavirus pandemic.
Any employer regardless of their size will be eligible for the scheme and will have to apply through HMRC. ‘We want to look back on this time and remember how in the face of a generation-defining moment, we undertook a collective national effort and we stood together.’The Chancellor said the next quarter of VAT payments will be deferred until the end of June in a cash injection of £30 billion.
