Environment and Water Minister Tanya Plibersek says the government’s 'first responsibility' is to help Australians caught up in the Israeli-Hamas conflict. Ms Plibersek said Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Defence Minister Richard Marles, and others are “constantly monitoring the situation in Israel at present”.

Environment and Water Minister Tanya Plibersek says the government’s"first responsibility" is to help Australians caught up in the Israeli-Hamas conflict.

Ms Plibersek said Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Defence Minister Richard Marles, and others are “constantly monitoring the situation in Israel at present”. The Albanese government has announced at least two Qantas repatriation flights for Australians who wish to leave Israel.

“We have obviously had discussions with Qantas about those flights which are scheduled for Friday,” Ms Plibersek told Sky News Australia.
