The Justice Department wants Google to sell its popular Chrome web browser, along with other steps, after a judge ruled that the company was 'a monopolist.'

A Google executive alluded to what is expected to be a long legal fight after the government filed a court document that listed its desired ways to break up the company’s unlawful monopoly over internet search engines.

The government accused Google of leveraging its enormous size and anticompetitive tactics to keep its search engine as the go-to option on billions of mobile devices and computers. “A kind of a difficult question that permeates all of these antitrust remedies is there's a technological sort of aspect to the remedy, and then there's an organizational aspect to the remedy,” Ghosh said. “And those two things don't always sort of work one-on-one.”

This case continued under President Joe Biden’s Justice Department after originating with Trump’s department.
