The bridge collapse was considered a calamity for the region with unforgettable images of the fallen iconic bridge.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore and federal partners are set to hold a news conference Wednesday to note the full reopening of the Port of Baltimore Wednesday - about 11 weeks after the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge .

On March 26, a large cargo ship, called the Dali, collided with the bridge causing the catastrophe with the tragic loss of six lives--construction workers who were working on the bridge. It's a story that resonated with people across Maryland, with Latino residents, like the victims, in particular. "It was a gut punch. It was something that really shook us to our foundation. You get up in the morning, you go somewhere, you're going to work, you're expecting to return home and then almost instantly, your life is gone," said Bishop Angel Nunez of the Bilingual Christian Church of Baltimore.

Months of work have finally led to a fully open channel with crews working daily--relying on sonar technology to guide them underwater. At times, conditions below the surface were too dangerous for workers with the water so murky that crews were barely able to see beyond arm's length. As the port fully reopens, the governor has repeatedly said, the victims of this tragedy and their families will never be forgotten.
