Four bills were signed by gov. Dunleavy in Fairbanks, providing aid and enhancing opportunities for college students, hunters, trappers and the city of Nenana.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - On Thursday, Gov. Mike Dunleavy signed four bills into law in Fairbanks . Hunting, trapping, economic development and consumer protection all saw changes on Thursday as Dunleavy had two bill signings in the golden heart community.

The bill will allow the Alaska Railroad Corporation to transfer lands to the City of Nenana. Something that investors have been looking forward to as they set their eyes on Nenana for future business. Some of those investors included recreational, housing and industrial developers. There is interest in developing a sawmill in Nenana and potentially a nursery for forest replanting according to Verhagen. There is also a home-kit company that wants to relocate to Nenana from Nikiski.

There is “a lot going for that little town, a lot going for the interior,” said Dunleavy. This bill will help see a much needed future develop for Nenana.
