Strachan didn't appreciate the way that McAllister spoke to people when he arrived at Leeds United in the late 80s.
Gordon Strachan has recalled telling off Leeds United legend Gary McAllister when the midfielder arrived at the club in the nineties.
Speaking on Jeff Stelling's Football's Greatest podcast, the now 67-year-old admitted that he wasn't impressed by how McAllister spoke to people at the club. When asked by the host if he would have his former teammate at a dinner party, he laughed: "As long as he didn't have a drink."He's been a mate of mine for a long time, we're best of mates now and I love him. Absolutely love him.
Elsewhere in the podcast, Strachan recalled ending up in the boot of a car the night he arrived at Manchester United, after a 'horrendous' night out with teammates Brian Robson and Gordon McQueen. He said: "Soon as I got to the club, he came and picked me up - him and Gordon McQueen. They took me for a night out which was horrendous - I came back in the boot of the car.
