Senator Richard J. Gordon said the recent killing of four Philippine Army (PA) intelligence officers in Sulu was not a rubout but “a clear murder.’’
Gordon, chairman of the Senate justice and human rights committee, issued the statement Friday as he strongly condemned the killing of the four in the hands of Philippine National Police personnel.
‘’The four army officers had no guns and I deplore the mendacity and the maliciousness of the police officers which was evidenced in the fact that they tampered with the evidence and the crime scene,’’ he said. Gordon also called on President Duterte to conduct a top-level investigation on all PA and PNP generals.
‘’There is a need to investigate and determine what is wrong with the policy that incidents such as these occur,’’ he said.On Thursday, Senator Risa Hontiveros filed a resolution calling for a Senate investigation, in aid of legislation, and look into the contentious Jolo incident.
