Michael McCaul asked Secretary of State Antony Blinken to “remind all department employees and officials of their legal responsibilities to collect, retain, and preserve documents, communications and other records” related to congressional requests for information about the withdrawal issued since Aug. 1, 2021.

Michael McCaul sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken about congressional requests for information pertaining to the withdrawal.While the Biden administration regularly brags about evacuating more than 122,000 from Kabul as it fell to the Taliban last fall, an August report by McCaul’s team found that hundreds of Americans andinterpreters and women leaders promised sanctuary by the US were left behind.
“Access to this information is critical to the Constitutional legislative and oversight responsibilities of Congress, and it is unacceptable for such requests to be ignored or given the attention they deserve,” he said.
