The Pixel Tablet, launched in 2023, is a unique device that doubles as a smart home hub, allowing users to control different smart devices using the dock speaker or by using Google'sVerse assistant. Although its hardware is outdated compared to more recent tablets, this tablet still holds value due to its long-term support and unique smart home hub capabilities. However, it may not be the best choice if you require high-end performance for power-hungry tasks.
At its I/O event, Google introduced the Pixel Tablet as its first tablet in three years. This tablet had a starting price of $600 and featured a speaker that doubled as a charging dock.
Despite lukewarm reviews and its aging hardware, the price of the tablet has significantly dropped to around $250 to $350 in the second-hand market. Although the tablet's hardware is outdated compared to newer models from companies like Samsung and Apple, it still holds value due to its unique smart home hub capabilities and long-term support.
The tablet features a 10.95-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 2,560 by 1,600, 500 nits of brightness, Google's Tensor G2 chip, 8 GB of memory, 128 or 256 GB of storage, and a 27-watt-hour battery with excellent battery life. However, its hardware performance is not as high-end as newer models, making it less suitable for advanced tasks like high-end gaming or power-hungry applications.
Despite these limitations, the Pixel Tablet remains worth buying in 2026 due to its smart home hub capabilities and Google's extended support for the tablet through mid-2028, ensuring ongoing updates and support for its users. The tablet's unique features and long-term support make it appealing for users interested in smart home technology and Google's ecosystem
