The Google Pixel Fold faces the Oppo Find N2 in an epic battle of foldable phones. The Pixel is larger and heavier, while the Oppo has an extremely likable compact size and it's the lightest foldable out there...
We can talk about the little differences in design, but really, picking between these two boils down to whether you prefer the bigger and heavier Pixel Fold, or you'd rather have a more compact and lighter-weight Oppo Find N2.
One has a 7.6-inch main screen, while the other has a 7.1-inch display. While the Pixel is larger, the difference is not really all that huge and unless you plan on multitasking a lot, then you probably shouldn't mind the smaller screen size on the Find N2. What sounds way more troubling is the 10oz weight of the Pixel Fold. That is heavy, especially if you plan on carrying the phone in your jeans pocket. The Find N2, on the other hand, proudly proclaims it's the lightest foldable phone in its class with a weight of merely 8.36 ounces, less than an iPhone 14 Pro Max! The Pixel Fold, however, is expected to come with an official water protection rating, something which is missing on the Oppo foldable. Both phones are similar in that they use a fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button on the side. Both use the latest OLED technology, but the Oppo has a far less noticeable crease. And of course, it's all about the size as we mentioned earlier: the Pixel has a larger, 7.6-inch size vs the 7.1 inches on the Oppo Find N2. We will be testing both screens in our display labs and give you a detailed breakdown in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. While we are already seeing the first foldable phones equipped with beastly Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, the Google Pixel Fold is said to arrive with the Google Tensor G2 processor. That's not a problem on a mid-range phone, as that chip is actually quite capable, but on a $1,700 flagship? Not really. The Oppo Find N2 uses a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor which is still faster in daily tasks, as well as heavier, more complex situations like gaming. Both phones, however, do use 12GB of RAM in even the base model, and both have 256GB of storage in that base version. The biggest difference comes in the software. The Pixel Fold is expected to run on a clean Android 13 version, while the Oppo foldable is powered by ColorOS based on top of Android 13, and this software might be a bit foreign to many people. We are also looking forward to Google saying exactly how many years of software updates will the Pixel Fold get. Both the Pixel Fold and Oppo Find N2 come with three cameras on the back, and both phones also have a front camera in the outer screen, as well as another one for the main display. So far, we only know that both come with a wide and an ultra-wide camera on the back, and both should also have a zoom camera too. The Oppo goes with a 2X zoom lens, which is good for portraits, but not for longe-range zoom. Will the Pixel Fold be able to use the same 5X periscope zoom as the Pixel 7 Pro? That's an open question. Over the coming weeks, we will be comparing these two cameras in detail and we will be updating this section with photo and video samples, so make sure to check back soon.Foldable phones have a reputation of having superior speakers than traditional phones, and most of the time that is because of the larger space. We don't yet have any specifics about the loudspeakers on the Pixel Fold, but our expectations are high. As for the haptics, both phones are said to have a flagship grade vibration motor that will provide a nice and tight vibration feedback, that much is known. The Pixel Fold might have the bigger battery, but the Oppo charges so much faster The Pixel Fold might have a bigger battery than the 4,400 mAh one on the Galaxy Fold 4, but will it beat the 4,520 mAh battery size on the Oppo Find N2? We still don't know, but our guess is that the battery size on the Google foldable phone will hover in that vicinity, maybe just a bit higher. What we really would like to see on the Pixel Fold is support for faster charging speeds. Google phones have been notoriously conservative with charging speeds, so anything above 25W would be a win on the Pixel Fold. But so far, it seems like the Oppo Find N2 wins the charging round as it comes with a whopping 67W fast charging speeds. Now that's what we call fast!
