Photo by GoogleAs much as we love a tech spec, it’s all numbers and acronyms and jargon that can appear overwhelming on paper . In reality, what do these differences mean? The selfie cameras are pretty much the same. Phew. There are differences between the 6a and 6 back cameras. They both have the Google Tensor chipset, so both cameras offer Real Tone , Night Sight and Magic Eraser . But the Pixel 6 camera can absorb more light and is, therefore, better at capturing photos at night.
The camera is one of the main differences. If you’re really into photography, you may want to consider the Pixel 6, but the 6a can also snap a crisp shot.In terms of size, the 6a has a 6.1-inch display and the 6 has a 6.4-inch. That size increase speaks for itself, but the refresh rate is the main difference. The Pixel 6a screen refreshes 60 times per second whereas the 6 refreshes 90 times per second.
The higher the refresh rate, the snappier your scrolling and video-watching experience will be. So if you’re looking for the quickest and sleekest display in all the Pixel land, the 6a isn’t for you. But the constant refreshing also affects the battery. The Pixel 6a has a slightly less powerful battery, but the screen isn’t working as hard as the 6. So in terms of battery life, you can split the difference. With “regular” phone use, the battery should last approximately 29 hours on both devices.
However, you can charge the Pixel 6 wirelessly, and the 6a you can’t. The 6 also supports up to 23W wired fast charging and the 6a supports 18W. You can only reverse charge – the fancy function that allows you to charge Bluetooth accessories through your phone’s battery – with the 6.RAM makes my head hurt. All I know is the higher the number the more it can do at once.
