Google is rolling out an update to its Phone app that will make it easier for Android and Pixel users to browse through their call history. The update introduces new tabs at the top of the screen, categorizing calls into 'All,' 'Missed,' 'Contacts,' 'Non-Spam,' and 'Spam'.

Google is preparing a new feature for its Phone app that will streamline call browsing for both Android and Pixel users. This update introduces new tabs at the top of the screen, categorizing calls into 'All,' 'Missed,' 'Contacts,' 'Non-Spam,' and 'Spam.' Currently, Android and some Pixel users navigate their call history by opening the Phone app and tapping the 'Recents' tab at the bottom.

This new update will allow users to view their call history sorted by these categories when they tap the 'Recents' button. This change brings parity to Android users, mirroring the seamless switching between all calls, outgoing calls, and missed calls that iOS users enjoy. iPhone users can easily toggle between these views using a single tap on the 'All-Missed' switcher at the top of the Recents page. The update is currently being tested in a beta version of the Google Phone app (version 159.0.718038457-publicbeta-pixel2024 beta). While the exact release date remains unclear, its presence in the beta suggests it might take some time before it becomes widely available. Notably, the update doesn't yet include a separate tab for outgoing calls, although future iterations might incorporate this feature. As of now, only the 'All' tab is functional after activating the update, revealing the new tabs at the top of the display. Although this update may seem minor, it significantly improves the user experience by allowing for easier navigation through phone calls. This change, while not revolutionary, enhances the overall functionality of the Phone app and benefits both Android and Pixel users
