This is all part of Google ’s major transition for Fitbit accounts, bringing them under Google ’s account system rather than operating independently. Anything not migrated by February 2, 2026, will be lost according to Google ’s latest statement on the matter.
“If you want to keep using Fitbit, you must move to a Google Account by 2 February 2026. If you use a Gmail account to sign in to Fitbit, you must also move to a Google Account,” says Google. This shift in policy was announced back in 2023, but the change has happened slowly presumably thanks to the sheer number of Fitbit users accrued over the years. They all need to be given enough warning about the possible loss of their data. “Your historical data will not be retained beyond 2 February 2026 , and your account and data will be deleted,” Google warns in the email sent out to Fitbit account holders.
