Google was dealt another legal blow this week by an appeals court that allowed a lawsuit against the company's personal data collection practices to proceed.

Google was dealt another legal blow this week by an appeals court that has allowed a lawsuit against the company's personal data collection practices to proceed.

The question at the center of the case is, how does a reasonable person interpret Google's fine print about what happens to their personal data?, a district court ruled in Google's favor because the company proved the plaintiffs consented to data collection. Former U.S. Attorney John P. Fishwick said judges in recent years have been getting tougher in cases like this.

Earlier this month, in a years-long antitrust case brought by the Department of Justice, a federal judge ruled Google has anon internet searches. The department will meet with the court next month about how to remedy that.
