The 52-year-old victim told police she was approached by a man with a knife about 3 p.m. Monday in the area of Passaic and First streets in Hackensack.
A good Samaritan who heard a woman screaming for help on a Bergen County street was credited Wednesday with helping to break up a kidnapping and robbery, according to police.
“The held a kitchen knife to the victim’s waist with one hand and had his other hand on her body and forcibly made her walk with him about two blocks in an attempt to get her into a home,” police Capt. Michael Antista said in a statement. That’s when the suspect fled with her belongings. The good Samaritan said he and others in the neighborhood helped chase down the man and corner him until police arrived.
