An issue with the Ocean's regenerative braking system was found to be at blame for six minor crashes
The electric SUV has been made safer thanks to the launch of two recent recalls. One of the issues was fixed through an over-the-air software update. Fisker recently avoided Chapter 7 liquidation as part of its bankruptcy proceedings. Two safety probes into the Fisker Ocean have been closed in the United States after the bankrupt marque issued recalls to address a door malfunction and a braking issue.
Reuters reports this update will allow the braking system to better adapt to different driving scenarios. The NHTSA opened a separate preliminary evaluation into 6,781 Oceans built in 2023 over claims the doors may get stuck and couldn’t be opened using either the interior or exterior door handles. Fisker issued a recall for this problem in June that requires service centers to inspect all four doors and replace the outer door handle if a fault is found.
