Felicity Huffman has been cast in the Good Doctor spinoff in her first role since the college admissions scandal.
The Good Doctor's legal spinoff The Good Lawyer has been approved for a backdoor pilot with a cast that includes Felicity Huffman. The Good Doctor, which has been running on ABC since 2017, stars Freddie Highmore as a talented young surgeon with savant syndrome.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Per Variety, ABC has ordered a backdoor pilot for The Good Lawyer. While this does not mean that the series itself will go on to be produced, the characters who would star in that show are set to appear in the upcoming March 6 episode of The Good Doctor season 6. The two main leads have been officially cast, with the titular lawyer being played by Nancy Drew star Kennedy McMann.
One reason the scandal captured the public's attention was the fact that several prominent celebrities were involved. Huffman, who is best known for her role in the television series Desperate Housewives and her Oscar-nominated performance in Transamerica, was sentenced to 14 days of prison with a year of supervised release and 250 hours of community service in addition to a hefty fine.
Everything We Know About The Good Lawyer Huffman's role in the Good Doctor spinoff will be Janet Stewart, a partner at the law firm that Highmore's character Dr. Shaun Murphy visits when he finds himself in a spot of legal trouble. She is a skilled attorney with a history representing Dr. Aaron Glassman , but Shaun will be drawn to another lawyer at the firm - McMann's Joni DeGroot - and ask her to represent him instead.
