Gonzaga narrowly defeated San Diego in a West Coast Conference game, despite a slow start and the Toreros' persistent efforts.
The Bulldogs (13-4, 4-0 WCC ) had a slow start offensively, allowing the Toreros (4-13, 1-3 WCC ) to stay in the game longer than expected. Despite being a 31.5-point underdog, San Diego managed to keep up thanks to Kjay Bradley Jr.'s 21-point performance. Ben Gregg led the Zags in the second half with 23 points. Khalif Battle added 20 points, while Graham Ike contributed 15 points, 19 rebounds, and two blocks.
Gonzaga head coach Mark Few acknowledged that the game wasn't perfect, stating, 'We got the 'W,' but we had stretches where we did some really, really nice things, and we had some stretches that kind of make you scratch your head a little bit.' Few also discussed the challenges faced by his players, particularly the need for Mike and Battle to improve their shooting.
