- Matthew Wolff shot the best round of his young career on the PGA Tour on Saturday, firing a nine-under-par 62 to move into a share of the lead with Collin Morikawa and Bryson DeChambeau at the inaugural 3M Open.
The 20-year-old Wolff mixed 10 birdies with a bogey in just his fourth start on the PGA Tour to sit atop the leaderboard alongside his compatriots at 15-under after three rounds at the TPC Twin Cities course in Minnesota. “The last couple weeks I felt like I was being a little too strategic,” he said after tying the course record also matched by DeChambeau in the second round.
Fellow Californian young gun Morikawa fired a seven-under 64 in his sixth start on Tour and has shown poise beyond his 22 years through three solid rounds.
