Thompson captioned the photo: "Gonna miss Mr. West. A true pioneer of basketball and one of them ones 🐐"West made the All-Star Game in all 14 season and he led the Lakers to the 1972 NBA Championship over the New York Knicks. "Jerry West was an incredible and unique individual, having accomplished immeasurable heights in the game of basketball. He reached the absolute pinnacle of the sport as both a player and executive, something few can claim in the profession. He did so much for the NBA, the game…He finished the year with averages of 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest while shooting 43.2% from the field and 38.7% from the three-point range.
This summer, the four-time NBA Champion will be a free agent available to sign with any team in the league.
