Yeoh wins for ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once,” Farrell for ‘The Banshees of Inisherin,’ and Butler for ‘Elvis.’
“It was a dream come true – until I got here,” the Malaysian-born actress, who first came to fame in Hong Kong cinema, said as the audience laughed. “I came here and was told, ‘You’re a minority,’ and I said, ‘No, that’s not possible.’ And then somebody said, ‘You speak English.’ I said, ‘Yeah, the flight here was about 13 hours long so I learned.’
Farrell thanked writer-director Martin McDonagh and castmate Brendan Gleeson, who 15 years ago teamed up with Farrell for “In Bruges,” which also won Farrell a Golden Globe.
