Chicago police say four people were shot early Friday in a Gold Coast drive-by.
A drive-by shooting early Friday left four people hurt in Chicago ’s Gold Coast neighborhood, police said.The shooting happened around 3:48 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Dearborn Street, according to Chicago police.
Investigators said a gray Acura sedan pulled up and someone inside opened fire on people standing on the sidewalk.Four people were hit before the car sped away south on Dearborn."Over 25 shell from a handgun as well as a long gun were discovered and catalogued by Chicago Police," Ald. Brian Hopkins said in a statement. "A License Plate Reader near the intersection was unable to identify the vehicle as it was not bearing license plates at the time."The victims were hospitalized at Northwestern Memorial in good condition."Reports indicate that the shooters were targeting a particular individual or group of individuals patronizing Gold Coast Social located at 7 W Division St ," Hopkins said. "Surveillance footage also indicates large fights that were breaking out near the establishment prior to the incident."He added, "While the investigation is conducted and the facts are uncovered, I have made a formal request with Superintendent Snelling to issue a summary closure of Gold Coast Social nightclub."Police said no one was in custody, and Area Three detectives are investigating.
