Josh Tapper, who appeared on the Channel 4 show alongside his family, has been selected as the Labour candidate for Hertsmere, where Oliver Dowden is the sitting MP
Josh Tapper, known for his appearances on the popular Channel 4 show Gogglebox, has been chosen as the Labour candidate aiming to unseat Tory Deputy PM Oliver Dowden.
Josh, who joined the Labour Party under Keir Starmer's leadership, first appeared on Gogglebox at the age of 15. The Tapper featured on the show between 2013 and 2018 and they were made up of dad Jonathan, mum Nikki, daughter Amy and son Josh. He left the show in 2017 to pursue a career as a civil servant, with a source telling The Mirror at the time: "Channel 4 will, of course, keep the door open for him but it's a really exciting opportunity for him. It's a much coveted job. Josh has already started having meetings within No 10."
In 2019, Mr Dowden won the seat with a majority of 16,951 - a decrease from over 21,000 two years prior, reports the Mirror. Meanwhile, since her time on Gogglebox, Josh's sister, Amy, has pursued a career in reality TV, having starred on Celebs Go Dating in 2018 alongside Eyal Booker, Olivia Attwood and Sam Craske.
