“When the incident happened, many turned to the government to ask if this was a cyberattack and what they were doing to resolve it,” he said at a press conference at his ministry here. “We’ve also called the necessary parties involved to explain to us what happened, and we’ve set the lines clearly in respect of what we expect of them — the highest of standards — make sure these incidents don’t happen again and if it does a response plan to deal with incidents like this,” he added,

Gobind also warned the public against trusting those pretending to reach out to help with Windows operations stemming from issues brought by CrowdStrike. “This incident shows why we urgently need to have better digital platform management systems in place. The digital ministry has taken steps in this direction by introducing and improving on the Cyber Security Act 2024 and the amendments to the PDPA,” he added.
