Fuad suggested that Putrajaya should pursue legal action against Stampa, who had awarded USD14.94bil (RM68.8bil) to eight Filipinos claiming to be heirs of the sultanate in 2022.
Tengku Datuk Fuad Tengku Ahmad suggested that Putrajaya should pursue legal action against Stampa who had awarded a so-called"final award" of US$14.94bil to eight Filipinos claiming to be heirs of the sultanate on Feb 28, 2022.
"In fact, he issued the final award when in fact he had no authority to do so, which means he can be held liable and not be subject to arbitrator's immunity. In 2019, the Sulu claimants took the matter to the Spanish arbitrator to seek compensation for land in Sabah, which was allegedly leased by their ancestors to a British trading company in 1878.
On June 27, the Court of Appeal in the Hague, the Netherlands, decided in favour of Malaysia on the compensation claims by the eight against the country.
