Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc., through its shared services and outsourcing arm Asticom Technology Inc., has piloted a laser communications system which is designed to deliver “fiber-like connectivity” in Bulacan.Developed by Singapore-based Transcelestial Technologies Pte. Ltd., the laser communications system is said to be a “cost-efficient and rapidly deployable” option to conventional fiber optics that can expand 4G or 5G coverage.
“Laser communications hold immense promise for the future of high-speed, reliable connectivity, particularly in areas where deploying physical infrastructure is difficult or impractical,” Globe Service Planning and Engineering head Joel Agustin said.“With Transcelestial’s innovation, we are not only enabling faster deployment but also enhancing the overall network experience for our customers,” he added.
