Industry giant Globe Telecom said it was the first in the Philippines to deploy “end-to-end” 5G “network slicing,” which gives the operator flexibility on how it allocates data to different applications. | miguelrcamusINQ /PDI
Network slicing is one of the defining features of 5G, which is touted as the next-generation mobile standard that offers ultra-fast internet speeds. Globe said in a statement on Monday the feature was “successfully tested for cloud gaming, a virtual reality laboratory , video surveillance analytics, augmented reality remote assistance, video streaming and robots.
Globe said it also tested 5G network slicing across the access, transport and core part of its network.
