Close, while presenting the award for Best Motion Picture – Drama, used profanity in her speech, which was cut short. The complete, uncensored version of her speech was later released on the Golden Globes' YouTube channel.

“We are so f---ing blessed and lucky, blessed and lucky to be together in this room,” she gushed. “Let’s get to the reason why we’re here.” Just as Close quoted a letter she received in her presentation speech, she looked like a letter on the red carpet in a black Balmain dress with sequined embroidery reminiscent of handwritten notes. She completed her look with matching black opera gloves, black heels and a small clutch.
