The fire has prompted evacuation orders and warnings.
A wildfire in Lake County just east of Clear Lake forced evacuations Friday afternoon. The Glenhaven Fire has spread to just under 300 acres by late afternoon with active spot fires. 2,500 structures are threatened and 3,500 people are in evacuation order zones with another 400 in areas under evacuation warning, according to Cal Fire officials. The fire started around 11:37 a.m., Cal Fire reported.
Jason Clay, with Cal Fire, said crews are establishing control lines. "Ground troops are being supported by the aircraft. We've got a number of helicopters." 25 engines are assigned to this fire along with five helicopters. Clay said crews are working in red flag warning conditions including low humidity and high temperatures. "The winds are an aspect that is a concern for us," Clay said.
