The yellow weather alert came into effect this morning
The yellow warning by the Met Office was put in place at 8.30am this morning and will continue until 7pm this evening. The area includes all of the Greater Glasgow area and large sections of the west coast.
Residents in affected areas have been warned that "persistent heavy rain may lead to some disruption on Tuesday."This may include flooding on roads and affected bus and rail services, leading to traffic and travel disruption throughout the day. The Met Office continues: "Persistent rain will push northeastwards across Scotland through today. Accumulations widely 15 to 25 mm, with 25 to 35 mm on high ground, isolated 40 to 45 mm possible in mountainous areas. The rain will be accompanied by increasingly gusty winds.
