Glasgow is set to be battered by heavy rain with a yellow weather warning in place by the Met Office covering more than half of the week. Flooding and travel disruption is to be expected.
The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings beginning on Wednesday morning and lasting until Friday night. The downpours are expected to begin in the early hours of Wednesday morning leading to difficult driving conditions and bringing potential road closures.
It could disrupt train services with potential speed limits introduced due to flooding on tracks. From Thursday afternoon, a further warning is in place for heavy and persistent rain through to Friday night. An estimated 70 mm of rain could fall in some places with East and West Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow, Inverclyde, and North and South Lanarkshire affected. The Met Office has said: "Locally heavy and persistent rain is expected to develop on Thursday and Friday, following on from heavy rain across parts of this area on Wednesday. For lower-lying and southern parts of the warning area, 25 to 50 mm is likely to fall, with 75 mm in a few locations, but across the West Highlands 75-125 mm is likely, perhaps in excess of 150 mm in a few spots."
