The latest data shows that there are 1,029 registered sex offenders (RSO) living across the community as of September 30 this year. Of those 745 reside in the community with the remaining 284 are in custody or hospital.
Figures released by Police Scotland have revealed the number of sex offenders living in the Greater Glasgow area.

Partners have the ability to use a wide range of investigative tools and technology to mitigate risk and protect the public.
"We work in partnership with a number of agencies through the Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements MAPPA to ensure all Registered Sex Offenders and other Risk of Serious Harm Offenders are robustly managed within the community.
