A man has been left shocked after mistaking a massive rat for a 'cat' after spotting it running down a southside street.

Alan Lee was on a walk in Kinning Park when he spotted the pest on the corner of Percy Street and Paisley Road West at around 4.40pm on Monday, September 16. The local captured the fearless creature as it scurried about in broad-daylight looking for food. Alan told Glasgow Live that he couldn't believe the size of the rat which he initially mistook for a feline. He said: "I was on Percy Street and Paisley Road West. When I spotted it all I could think is how massive it was. I've never seen something so big."There were two but I only managed to catch one on camera. It was about the same size.

"I've seen rats before in Glasgow but never when it's that bright. I'm not sure if it's the extra bins in the area which are encouraging them to come out.Glasgow City Council has been contacted for comment.
