A Glasgow man is taking on his biggest challenge yet in memory of his beloved gran.
Bryan Garvie is gearing up to take part in the Great Scottish Run next month as a tribute to his grandma Betty, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2015 after displaying worrying symptoms.
Bryan, 43, said:"She had been unwell for a while, and it took quite some time to confirm the diagnosis, as her symptoms could have been attributed to various conditions."While there was a sense of relief in finally identifying the issue, it was really upsetting to learn more about MND and its implications.
After spending a period of time in hospital, Betty was transferred to St. Andrews Hospice in Airdrie where she received support from the dedicated staff, which Bryan feels significantly eased things for him and his parents. He said:"It feels like a good challenge, I’ve only ever done 10k length events before so I wanted to do something which would be a stretch and make it worth the donations.
