A POPULAR store which has served a community near Glasgow for 24 years is to close.
Lidl at the shopping precinct on Grampian Way in the Baljaffray area of Bearsden will shut on May 1, the supermarket giant has confirmed.A spokesperson for Lidl said: “In the last year, we've opened a brand-new store in Anniesland, which is almost double the size of the Lidl on Grampian Way, providing households in the area with an enhanced shopping experience."The area remains on our site requirements list, and our dedicated property team is actively looking for alternative sites.
Prior to this confirmation, Amy Callaghan MP explained last week that she had contacted Lidl about the concerns over the future of the store. "Having an affordable store with locally sourced produce in our community particularly helps those struggling with the cost-of-living-crisis. Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
