Police Scotland officers have shut down Argyle Street in the city centre after a suspicious item was found in a nearby premises.
Emergency services rushed to the incident on Argyle Street today with the area cordoned off to the public after the discovery at 10.30am.said: "Emergency services are in attendance Argyle Street, Glasgow, following a report of threat made and suspicious item found at a premises around 10.30am on Friday, 16 August, 2024.Emergency services begin to leave scene but some shops remain closed
Emergency services have begun to disperse from the scene of the incident with the police tape removed from Argyle Street. However some shops remain closed.Multiple emergency services are at the scene including police, fire and ambulance services.Members of the public have been urged to avoid Argyle Street following the incident. Police have confirmed there is no risk to the wider public.: "There are a lot of police standing guard and the street has been taped off.
Another added: "There's a massive police presence at Argyle Street outside JD Sports.
