A judge has ordered Rudy Giuliani's New York Yankees World Series rings to be temporarily stored in his son's apartment pending a trial that will determine if he must relinquish them as part of a $148 million defamation judgment.
Rudy Giuliani's New York Yankees World Series rings will be temporarily stored in a closet in his son's apartment until a judge decides whether the former New York mayor must surrender them as part of a $148 million defamation judgment. Giuliani's son, Andrew, has possession of the rings and agreed to keep them 'secreted in a bedroom closet' pending the outcome of the trial scheduled to begin Thursday.
The trial will determine whether Giuliani, 80, must also turn over his Florida condominium to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, who won the significant award against him.Giuliani has claimed the Florida condo is his permanent residence and therefore exempt from the judgment. This comes after Giuliani has already relinquished a New York City apartment, a 1980 Mercedes once owned by actress Lauren Bacall, and several luxury watches. He has also been disbarred and held in contempt in both New York and Washington. Freeman and Moss sued Giuliani in 2021 after he repeatedly made false claims they tampered with the 2020 Georgia vote. On Tuesday, Giuliani's attorney unsuccessfully sought to call as witnesses Giuliani's spokesman, Ted Goodman, and Monsignor Alan Placa, a retired priest. Both men were argued to have 'intimate knowledge of his intent and the homestead,' according to Giuliani's attorney. Judge Lewis Liman denied the defense request to reconsider allowing the priest to testify
