Rudy Giuliani faces contempt of court charges for violating a judge's order to stop spreading lies about two former Georgia election workers.
U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell in Washington, D.C., found Rudy Giuliani in contempt of court for continuing to spread lies about two former Georgia election workers after a jury awarded the women a $148 million defamation judgment. Giuliani was barred from defaming Wandrea “Shaye” Moss and her mother, Ruby Freeman, but he violated court orders by making false accusations about them committing election fraud in connection with the 2020 election.
His lies led to racist threats and harassment for the women. During the hearing, Giuliani slammed the judge, calling her “bloodthirsty” and biased. He also described the proceeding as a “hypocritical waste of time” and “a farce,” claiming the judge was “completely biased and prejudiced.” Howell warned Giuliani that future violations could result in possible jail time. She ordered him to review trial testimony and other materials from the case
