It took until the 76th minute to break a tie against Caney Creek and earn that girls soccer win.
“We’ve just struggled to finish games this year,” Willis coach Alyssa Maynard said. “We’re possessing well, we’re playing well, and intensity is there. We’re just not finishing. For them to finally finish, and their first comment was ‘we played far post, side netting’. Which is something we practice and they’re finally getting it. Four minutes left…putting it a little close.”
Caney Creek , a team battling hard in its first season in Class 6A, came up just shy. Coach Gretchen Kloes was proud afterwards of the fight they put up on the road.
