Girls golf: Smithson Valley's Sayers Allen and New Braunfels Canyon's Presley Bolado lead 2023 Express-News All-Area teams
Bolado secured silver with a two-round total of 143 at the UIL 5A state championship a year after not getting past district. She finished fourth at the Region IV-5A championship. Bolado also qualified for the USGA Girls Junior Championship.A year after missing gold by one stroke, Alamo Heights responded with a 12-stroke victory to capture the UIL Class 5A girls team state championship. It was the Mules' second state championship in three seasons.
New Braunfels Canyon, sophomore — Golfer of the Year finalist: Reagan, junior — Shot 72 and 75 for a two-round 147 to finish tied for 14th at the UIL 6A state tournament.: Reagan, sophomore — Carded rounds of 74 and 70 for a total of 144, finishing tied for seventh at the UIL 6A state tournament. She led the Rattlers to a fourth-place finish in the team division.Alamo Heights, junior — Shot 74 and 72 for a two-day total of 146 to finish fourth at the UIL 5A state tournament.
