The Twinkle for Heather Girlguiding badge aims to help young people talk about mental health.
A new badge created to honour a former Girl Guide who took her own life aims to encourage young people to talk about mental health.
The Twinkle for Heather challenge badge has been named after one of its young leaders, Heather Porter, from Dalton in Cumbria, who took her own life in April 2022. The guiding community wanted to do something to honour her and so the idea, which helps to promote suicide prevention techniques, was born.
At a village hall in south Cumbria, guides and young leaders from across the county tried out which activities would be part of the special badge.
