Alexandra Naggear and dad Paul before the deadly blast that rocked the Lebanese capital
She had been watching the fire burning at the port from her high rise building in the Lebanese capital with her parents last Tuesday,As the first explosion hit her mother Tracy, 33, picked her up and tried to shield her. But seconds later a second blast overwhelmed the pair and Alexandra was thrown across the room, hitting her head on a piano. It took several minutes for her parents to dig her out from under the rubble, her grandfather Michel Awwad, 60, told the Daily Mail.
The toddler was rushed to the nearest hospital by her parents on a motorbike but it had been closed off after being damaged in the blast so they had to take her elsewhere. At least 158 people died in the blast and 21 are still thought to be missing, now presumed dead. Around 6,000 were injured. It was caused when 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate ignited.
