A fusion of gingerbread and apple cake, this recipe is a dream cake for fall.

But I wish that I had made more of the sautéed apples for the filling. You can never have too much filling. This is a great recipe, the cake turned out really moist and was an overall crowd pleaser!I'm going to make this cake for a dinner party this weekend. Has anyone tried substituting orange rind and juice for lemon ?I haven't, but I love the idea. In fact, I was planning to make it for a party this weekend, and I think I'll make it your way!just put it on a plate and cover..

Thank you!I have a Tupperware cake holder--basically a plate with a tall cover. I would use that. Or you could leave it the springform pan and wrap that in plastic or foil. Hope you enjoy!I always struggle with this because I love the little crust or crackle the cake has and I'm afraid if I cover it it will get soft. Will that be avoided if it cools first then cover it? If I leave it open for one night will it dry out? I guess this is more of a general cake storage question.

Apple Strudel With Candied Pecans & Apricots Recipe on Food52Apple Strudel With Candied Pecans & Apricots Recipe on Food52Hear me out, here: No one loves apple pie more than me, but a good apple strudel could just take its place. Thin, delicate, crisp outer crust gives way to layer after layer of soft dough inside, swirled with plenty of flavorful filling. Start by perfuming your kitchen with the most incredible scent of candied pecans, then grind them up. Reserve some to add to the flavorful apple filling—the rest will be scattered across the dough before the filling is added. Serve this strudel warm for maximum coziness.

Broccoli & Cheddar Snack Bread Recipe on Food52Broccoli & Cheddar Snack Bread Recipe on Food52Broccoli and cheddar bring to mind two associations for me: the chunky broccoli cheddar soup from Panera Bread that my brother ordered on repeat as a kid, and broccoli florets doused in a very orange cheese sauce (I can’t say I ever fully understood the latter). Though I’ve historically never been a huge fan of the broccoli-and-cheddar flavor combination, this savory, fall-friendly snack bread has made me reconsider any doubts I’ve had about cruciferous vegetables and cheese up to this point. Baked in an 8- x 8-inch square pan, this broccoli and cheddar snack bread is inspired by a simple breakfast bread my grandma would make using Jiffy’s corn muffin mix and frozen broccoli. Served by the slice, it was a comforting, tasty way to ease into the day. In my homemade rendition, a combination of flour and yellow cornmeal yields a familiar but not-quite-cornbread bake that benefits texturally from a trifecta of buttermilk, sour cream, and an extra yolk. Chopped broccoli and shredded sharp cheddar are both folded into the batter and sprinkled on top before baking, ensuring plenty of broccoli-and-cheese flavor in each bite, and with the LG STUDIO Built-in Double Wall Oven, you can expect well-baked, delicious results every time. Whether you’re in the market for an autumn-appropriate potluck dish or an easy baking project for the weekend, this cheesy, broccoli-laden twist on cornbread is a cozy, satisfying side that delivers. Serve the bread with soup or stew, alongside roasted meat, or simply on its own for breakfast or a hearty snack—the moist, savory squares will disappear before you know it. Note: If using frozen broccoli, soak them in warm water to quickly thaw before trimming the stems off and chopping the florets into pieces.
