San Miguel Beer team manager Gee Abanilla believes that beyond the solid basketball skill sets, Gilas Pilipinas stands to benefit from Bennie Boatwright's 'winning attitude.'Abanilla explained that the Beermen were fortunate to have the former USC Trojan during the San Miguel Beer's recent PBA Commissioner's Cup championship run.'We are really happy and fortunate that we came across a high quality and skilled player in Benny.
I do hope that he can contribute well for the national team,' Abanilla saidEarly this week, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas confirmed that it had 'initiated talks' with the 27-year-old Boatwright to be part of Gilas Pilipinas program.The idea according to the SBP is to create a pool of naturalized players to guarantee a stable future for the national team that is now under the direction of head coach Tim Cone.
