This new visually striking journal is dedicated to African creatives
’s debut issue, Hassan-Odukale tapped Ivorian visual artist Nuits Balnéaires to create the cover image. The result is a striking visual of a person in a white shirt turned away from the camera while the shadows of leaves fall on them. Within the journal itself are stories featuring some of West Africa’s most prominent artists like designer Adeju Thompson, artist Ayanfe Olarinde, photographer Nybé Ponzio, and more.
“I was privileged enough with the opportunity to travel and meet so many people I wouldn’t have met, building real relationships with them which led to them being a part of making,” Hassan-Odukale says. “Being able to travel and explore for work is a massive highlight, as it is something I’m super passionate about. Halfway through thejourney, I brought a close friend on to be co-editor, Mira Makadia. We went to school together and always connected on similar things from a young age.
