In 2020, the Giants' principal owner 'pledged to do my part in helping our nation and restore peace and respect in our democratic system.' His donations to election deniers and questioners haven't stopped.
Just shy of two years after saying he and his wife"reject and denounce any individuals, candidates or elected officials who do not honor our constitution," San Francisco Giants owner Charles Johnson continues donating to political candidates who have peddled baseless conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election.
SFGATE first reported on Johnson's donations to Walker and the senior senator from Wisconsin. The Giants didn't respond to a request for comment prior to publication on Tuesday morning. On the same day of the attack, Walker tweeted the conspiracy that the siege was"planned to shut everything down and run the clock out" on claims of election fraud.
Ron Johnson, a two-term senator, insinuated after the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riots that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was somehow responsible for the attack. Johnson said this month that the siege — which left five people dead and led to two police officers dying by suicide — was "not what an armed insurrection would look like."
