The Giants will be a stop today on Vance Joseph’s three-team whirlwind tour.
The Broncos defensive coordinator is expected to interview virtually with the Giants, Ravens and Raiders, according to NFL Network, as he takes a day away from game preparation during a bye week in the AFC playoffs.
After four seasons as the Cardinals defensive coordinator, Joseph uniquely returned to the Broncos in a lesser role as the defensive coordinator under Sean Payton. The interview will not count towards fulfilling the Rooney Rule, which requires two external minority candidates to be interviewed in person.only permit coaches for the Seahawks and Broncos – the No. 1 seed in the NFC and AFC playoffs, respectively – to be interviewed virtually this week.NFL insiders battle over what led to John Harbaugh's Ravens firing The Broncos had one of the NFL’s most ferocious defenses under Joseph, leading the NFL with 68 sacks while finishing No. 2 in yards allowed and No. 3 in points allowed. Joseph was the Dolphins defensive coordinator in 2016, during Giants general manager Joe Schoen’s time in Miami’s front office. He also is a mentor to Giants interim defensive coordinator Charlie Bullen, so Bullen would be a logical candidate for retention if Joseph gets the job and doesn’t want to call plays himself. It is slightly surprising that the Giants do not have a known interview scheduled with Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb, who interviewed with the Raiders on Wednesday. Webb is a former Giants draft pick and a Schoen free-agent signing who started the 2022 season finale before retiring.Steve Serby
