There had been some consideration of having the game played on Saturday, December 28, which would have been the anniversary of the 1958 NFL Championship game between the Baltimore Colts and Giants, more commonly known as “The Greatest Game Ever Played,” which was played on December 28, 1958, at Yankee Stadium and won by the Colts 23-17 in sudden death overtime, the first such game to be decided in that fashion. However, with both the Giants (2-12) and Colts (6-8) each having poor seasons and other more meaningful games with playoff implications of interest, the network decided to take a different approach. Week 17 will feature two games on Christmas Day: the Chiefs at the Steelers and the Ravens at the Texans. Then, on the day after Christmas, the Seahawks will visit the Bears. The Saturday games, while not officially announced by the league, though by process of elimination, appear to be the Chargers at Patriots, the Broncos at the Bengals, and the Cardinals at the Rams. The Monday night game will see the Lions at the 49ers. The rest of the scheduled games will be played on Sunday. New York Giants rookie safety Tyler Nubin, the promising second-round draft pick this year, has been placed on season-ending IR with an ankle issue that popped up last week. He finishes his first NFL season with a team-leading 97 tackles (57 solos), four tackles for loss, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery. Nubin’s move to IR opens a roster spot for cornerback Divaad Wilson, whom the Giants signed off the Cardinals practice squad. The Giants signed tackle Jalen McKenzie, 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, to their practice squad. McKenzie played his college ball at USC and has been on the Seahawks, Raiders, and Patriots practice squads
