"It's hard to play a guy whose description, in one paragraph, is that he's old and steeped in his ways, part of the greed and graft, blah, blah, blah, blah," Esposito says. "That makes you immediately think the guy is bad, but he's not really a bad guy. What about what the people need? They need something to hold onto, something that's tried and true, something that they understand.

"I wanted to think about a guy who would be able to transform a bit because of Catalina's marriage to Cicero's daughter," Esposito says. "Then it becomes more of an idea of family. Francis said something at a screening last night that really moved me: We're all family here. Even when you have a room of thousands of people. We all may look a little different and have different names, but we're all family.
